What: The two-day workshop, taught by the Hendrix College computer science faculty, will help participants to understand the Java programming language and other material relevant to the Advanced Placement Computer Science test. Participants will be introduced to the language and practice on a variety of laboratory exercises, while meeting other participants and taking advantage of the faculty expertise with Java.

Who: All high school teachers interested in teaching computer programming are invited. You do not need to teach an Advanced Placement class to participate. You should, however, already be comfortable with programming in some programming language such as Basic, Pascal, or C++.

When: The workshop begins 11am, Friday, August 6, 2004, and it ends at 4pm, Saturday, August 7, 2004.

Where: It will be at the Hendrix College campus in Conway, Arkansas, 30 minutes north of Little Rock on I-40. We have reserved one of the college's newest dorm facilities to house participants overnight. We can arrange transportation to and from Little Rock National Airport (LIT).

Requirements: The registration fee of $50 covers copying, lodging (Friday night), and food expenses (lunch, dinner, breakfast, lunch). Participants should pack bed linens, pillows, and towels.

Questions: Go to www.cburch.com/proj/jett/ for additional information, or you can send inquiries to or call 501/450-1377.
