To be included in the CCSC:MS program, each nifty assignment must have three parts:
The electronic documents should include all information necessary for using the assignment in the classroom, including an assignment description as you might distribute to students and any supporting code or other instructions. All should be suitable for appearance on a Web page (HTML preferred). They will be archived on-line at http://www.ccsc-ms.org/nifty/.
[A preliminary version of this site based on the initially submitted documents.]
The supporting documents should be e-mailed to burch@hendrix.edu by January 17, 2014.
The abstract, which will be published in The Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges, must follow the CCSC:MS authoring requirements for professional papers, including the Manuscript Formatting Guidelines and Manuscript Preparation Guidelines, with the following modifications:
The document must not exceed one full page, including the title and author information and any references.
The title of the document must be
be Foo — A Nifty Assignment
, where
Foo is a short phrase summarizing the assignment content.
While the published paper should summarize the assignment, a full description of the assignment is really for the Web page. The focus of the published abstract should be on what other instructors would want to know for adopting the assignment: learning objectives, where it fits into the course, and experiences with using the assignment.
Do not include an abstract on this one-page submission. You may divide the document's body into sections, but you may also judge this unnecessary for such a short document.
The body of the text should clearly indicate the course in which the assignment would be used. Preferably, this course would be named in the first sentence.
The body of the text should mention specifically the URL where the full assignment description and supporting files can be downloaded. This URL will be:
where bar is the first three letters of the first author's last name, in all lower-case letters.
The completed abstract should be e-mailed both to dnaugler@semo.edu and to burch@hendrix.edu (subject: CCSC-MS: Final Manuscript) by January 17, 2014.
Authors whose nifty assignment has been accepted must complete a release form. (The form is a PDF file.) The completed form should be scanned into electronic form and e-mailed to dnaugler@semo.edu (subject: CCSC-MS: Final Manuscript) by January 17, 2014.
