You are assigned to write at least two entries for each of the three weeks. Each entry is expected to be, at a minimum, 250 words long — but longer is fine.
You may hand-write or type your journal. While you should attempt to write coherent English, it certainly does not need to be carefully edited.
You will be sharing what you write with me (and only with me). I will want to review your journal following the first week to evaluate how the journal is going, and of course I will also review your journal at the end of Maymester before submitting your Odyssey completion form.
Of course, there is no grade. And please feel free to write things that you think I might not like. This is, after all, a place for thinking critically about what you've been doing these three weeks. This is a place for honest and thoughtful reflection.
The single biggest pitfall of journal-writing is to merely describe what you've done, so that it turns into a “daily log.” To help you write a reflective journal, here is a list of some possible questions that you might address in different entries.
